    About

Travel planning should make a trip feel exciting, not exhausting.

I created Trip Unpacked to help travelers turn endless searches, saved posts, maps, and recommendations into travel plans that actually make sense.

I focus on the questions people usually have before a trip: Where should I stay? What is actually worth seeing? How many days do I need? What should I skip? When is the best time to visit? And what should I know before I arrive?

My goal is simple: to make travel easier to understand, easier to plan, and easier to enjoy.

    What Is Trip Unpacked?

Trip Unpacked is an independent travel website where I share practical destination guides, travel-planning advice, food experiences, outdoor adventures, and ideas for future trips.

I do not want my guides to become long lists of places added simply to make an article look complete. I prefer to focus on information that can genuinely help you make better travel decisions.

That means covering the famous attractions, but also the smaller details that often matter more once a trip begins.

How early should you arrive? Is an attraction worth your time? Which neighborhood makes the most sense for a short stay? Can two places realistically fit into the same day? Is public transportation enough, or will you need another option?

Those are the kinds of questions I try to answer on Trip Unpacked.

    Why I Created Trip Unpacked

Planning a trip can sometimes become more complicated than the trip itself.

There are hundreds of articles telling you what to see, thousands of reviews offering different opinions, and endless social media posts showing only the highlights.

The difficult part is deciding what actually makes sense for your trip.

That is why I created Trip Unpacked.

I wanted a place where I could break destinations down into practical pieces and help travelers understand not only what to do, but also how everything fits together.

My aim is for you to finish a Trip Unpacked guide with a clearer idea of where to go, how long to stay, what deserves your time, and what you might prefer to skip.

What You’ll Find on Trip Unpacked

    Destination Guides

My destination guides are designed to help you understand a place before you arrive.

I cover major attractions, neighborhoods, transportation, food, local experiences, practical travel tips, and the smaller details that can shape your trip.

Instead of simply telling you that a place exists, I try to explain why you might want to visit, how much time it may deserve, and how it can fit into the rest of your itinerary.

    Travel Planning

Many good trips come down to small decisions made before departure.

On Trip Unpacked, I cover itineraries, transportation, useful travel tools, accommodation choices, budgeting, connectivity, packing, timing, and other practical parts of organizing a trip.

I try to keep these guides straightforward because travel planning does not need to feel complicated.

    Travel Ideas

Sometimes you know you want to travel before you know where you want to go.

That is why I also share travel ideas for different seasons, interests, budgets, and types of trips.

You might be looking for a warm winter escape, a short weekend getaway, a food-focused city, an outdoor adventure, or somewhere completely different.

My goal is to help make that decision easier.

    Food and Local Experiences

Food is one of the best ways to understand a destination.

I enjoy looking beyond famous landmarks to the dishes, markets, cafés, restaurants, and everyday experiences that give a place its character.

When covering local food, I try to provide useful context instead of simply telling you that something is a “must-try.”

What is it? What should you expect? Where does it fit into the local food culture?

Those details can make a food experience much more meaningful.

    Outdoor Adventures

Some trips are less about city streets and more about mountains, trails, lakes, coastlines, and national parks.

For outdoor destinations, I focus on practical preparation as much as scenery.

My guides can include information about routes, difficulty, transportation, timing, seasonal conditions, and other factors that may help you decide whether an experience is right for your trip.

How I Create My Travel Guides

Trust matters when someone is using information to plan a real trip, and I take that responsibility seriously.

Depending on the topic, I use a combination of first-hand observations where applicable, detailed destination research, official tourism information, transportation resources, maps, and other reliable sources.

I pay particular attention to practical details because these are often the things that cause problems during a trip.

Opening hours change. Ticket systems change. Transportation routes are updated. Prices increase. Entry requirements can change.

For information that is especially sensitive to change, I prefer authoritative and official sources whenever possible.

I also review and update articles when I identify important information that is no longer accurate.

Not Every Popular Attraction Is a Must-See

One thing you will notice on Trip Unpacked is that I do not automatically describe every famous attraction as a “must-see.”

Travel is too personal for that.

Something that is perfect for one traveler may not be worth the time for another. A crowded viewpoint might still be worth an early start, while another heavily promoted attraction may not deserve several hours of your itinerary.

I try to give you enough context to make that decision for yourself.

When there are drawbacks, I want you to know about them.

When something deserves extra time or effort, I want to explain why.

And when there is a practical alternative, I want to include it.

My job is not to decide your trip for you. My job is to give you useful information so you can make a more confident decision.

    Who Is Behind Trip Unpacked?

I’m Ethan Brooks, the person behind Trip Unpacked.

I created this site because I enjoy turning complicated travel planning into information that is practical and easy to use.

When I put together a guide, I think about the questions a traveler is likely to have before arriving.

    Not just the obvious ones.

How much time should you allow? When does a place become crowded? Is something worth fitting into a short itinerary? How easy is it to get around? Which details should you know before booking?

Those are often the questions that make the biggest difference once a trip begins.

I also believe useful travel content should be realistic. Trips do not always go perfectly, and a good guide should help you prepare for practical challenges as well as exciting experiences.

    My Editorial Approach

I want you to understand how I approach the information published on Trip Unpacked.

    Accuracy Matters

I make a reasonable effort to check important factual information before publishing.

For details such as transportation, attraction rules, destination requirements, and travel logistics, I prefer reliable and official sources whenever possible.

    First-Hand Experience Has a Place

When I have relevant first-hand experience, I use it to add practical context to a guide.

Personal observations can sometimes explain details that a standard destination description cannot.

At the same time, I do not believe personal experience should replace accurate research.

    Research Matters

No traveler can personally verify every train schedule, ticket rule, seasonal condition, entry requirement, or local policy.

That is why research is an important part of how I create travel content.

I use reputable sources to check important details and try to distinguish clearly between factual information and personal opinion.

    Opinions Are Personal

    Travel is subjective.

One traveler may love an attraction that another finds disappointing. A neighborhood that feels exciting to one person may feel too busy to someone else.

When I share an opinion, I try to make it clear that it is an opinion rather than a universal fact.

The final decision should always be yours.

I Try to Keep Information Current

    Travel changes quickly.

I review and update content when necessary, particularly when important practical information changes.

However, for anything that could significantly affect your trip, I recommend confirming the latest details with the relevant official organization before booking or traveling.

What I Want Trip Unpacked to Be

I want Trip Unpacked to become the kind of travel website you return to when another trip starts taking shape.

I want every article to be:

Useful. It should help you make a decision, answer a question, or solve a travel-planning problem.

Clear. I use straightforward language rather than making simple travel topics sound unnecessarily complicated.

Practical. I focus on information you can actually use before and during a trip.

Honest. If something has limitations or disadvantages, I want to mention them.

Independent. My priority is helping you make the right travel decision, even when that means explaining why an attraction, experience, service, or purchase may not be necessary.

    Affiliate Links and Partnerships

Some pages on Trip Unpacked may contain affiliate links.

If you make a booking or purchase through one of these links, I may earn a commission at no additional cost to you. These commissions can help support the cost of running and maintaining Trip Unpacked.

An affiliate relationship does not automatically make something worth recommending.

I aim to mention products, services, accommodations, tours, or travel tools because they are relevant to the topic and potentially useful to travelers.

Sponsored content or paid partnerships, when applicable, will be clearly identified.

    Travel Information Can Change

I work to make the information on Trip Unpacked as useful and accurate as possible, but travel changes constantly.

Prices, schedules, opening hours, availability, transportation services, local regulations, weather conditions, and entry requirements can change without notice.

Before making an important booking or travel decision, always confirm critical information with the relevant airline, hotel, attraction, transportation provider, government authority, or official tourism organization.

    Unpack the World

The name Trip Unpacked reflects exactly what I want this website to do.

Take a destination that initially feels complicated and unpack it piece by piece.

    Where to go.

    What to eat.

    How to get around.

    What deserves your time.

    What you can skip.

    And how everything fits together.

Whether you are planning a weekend away or a longer trip across the world, I hope Trip Unpacked helps you spend less time wondering what to do and more time looking forward to the journey.

    Unpack the World.
